Taking Back Sunday Tour Notes: Nashville, TN, October 26, 2013
I had the pleasure of attending the Taking Back Sunday show in Nashville, TN, tonight, the second show in which Spencer Chamberlain subbed for Adam Lazzara. The band played fifteen songs--two more than the previous night, but a truncated set given that Spencer Chamberlain is still learning the words to all of the songs. In fact, for five of the songs, John Nolan or Joe Boynton (from Transit) took over the lead vocals:
1. You Know How I Do
2. Liar (It Takes One to Know One)
3. Faith (When I Let You Down)
4. Set Phasers to Stun
5. Error: Operator
6. What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?
7. A Decade Under the Influence
8. Number Five with a Bullet (Joe Boynton from Transit)
9. Existentialism on Prom Night (Just John)
10. Timberwolves at New Jersey (Just John)
11. One-Eighty by Summer (Just John)
12. You're So Last Summer
13. Cute Without the 'E' (Cut From the Team)
Encore: 14. Best Places to Be a Mom (Just John)
Overall, this was a great show. Spencer Chamberlain had great stage presence--especially with his hair swinging--and the crowd in Nashville was unusually energetic (possibly because many were already getting drunk for Halloween parties). I had been looking forward to hearing the two new songs, as well as several songs that I've never seen the band play life before. The stage also dulled down a bit when Spencer left in the middle of the set. But this is all understandable since Spencer was thrown into the mix with little notice.
I've posted two videos that I took at the show below: What's it Feel Like to Be a Ghost? (yes, Spencer does flub the words at the beginning) and Cute without the 'E' (Cut from the Team).
See you all in Birmingham tomorrow!
